The spice island of Zanzibar offers one of the world’s most extraordinary kite experiences. Paje Beach sits on the east coast, home to a vast tidal lagoon that stretches for miles — shallow, flat, and turquoise, with consistent SE trade winds blowing reliably through both kite seasons.
Zanzibar is Africa’s most exotic island. Beyond the water, there’s the UNESCO-listed labyrinth of Stone Town, spice farms that perfume the air with cloves and vanilla, pristine coral reefs, and a Swahili culture that has traded with the world for centuries. This trip feeds every sense.
Arrive at Zanzibar International. Transfer along the coast to Paje. Welcome seafood dinner under the stars.
First session in the famous Paje lagoon. Ankle-deep tidal water, utterly flat, and the wind is already blowing. This is what kite dreams are made of.
Guided downwinder south along the coast. Afternoon spice farm tour and introduction to Zanzibar's rich history.
Morning kite, then a cultural afternoon exploring UNESCO-listed Stone Town — labyrinthine alleys, carved wooden doors, and incredible Swahili architecture.
Back on the water for a full day. The tidal lagoon changes character through the day — explore different sections and conditions.
Morning kite session, then an evening traditional dhow sunset cruise with fresh seafood on board.
Final breakfast on the beach, then transfer to the airport. Zanzibar will be calling you back before you even board your flight.
Breakfast is a feast of fresh tropical fruit, local bread, and strong Zanzibar coffee on the beach terrace. The wind starts building from 9am and the lagoon fills in — by 10am you're on the water. The tidal lagoon at Paje is something else: miles of flat, warm, turquoise water with a sandy bottom. Sessions run until the early afternoon, then a generous lunch of fresh lobster, octopus, or caught-that-day fish. Wind often returns late afternoon. Evenings are warm, the stars are outrageous, and the seafood keeps coming.
Consistent SE Kaskazi trade winds. Vast shallow tidal lagoon — flat to small chop.
