Wake up overlooking the Dakhla lagoon, walk across the sand to the water, kite, eat, kite. Rinse and repeat. Seven days of world-class kiting and great company in one of Africa’s most remote and magical destinations.
Dakhla sits on a narrow peninsula in the Western Sahara, surrounded by a vast sheltered lagoon with consistently strong trade winds and virtually no crowds. It is rated by Kiteworld Magazine as one of the best kite destinations on the planet — “fun for all levels and with enough wind to be shredding dawn till dusk among the dolphins and flamingos.”
Based at a lagoon-side camp with comfortable bungalows, all meals included, and the water a one-minute walk away. This is about as close to a kite paradise as it gets.
Fly into Dakhla airport — our driver meets you and transfers you to the lagoon camp. Check in, get your bearings, and join the group for dinner as the sun goes down over the water.
Breakfast on the terrace, then walk 60 seconds to the water's edge. The lagoon is flat and wide — ideal for your first session. Afternoon kite, then dinner at camp.
Guided downwinder along the lagoon to the white dunes with boat support. One of the most scenic kite runs in Africa. Afternoon free to explore.
Morning kite, then afternoon quad bikes across the Sahara or a boat trip to the oyster farms. Dinner in town.
Full day on the water — choose the flat lagoon or venture to the ocean side for waves. Evening camel ride along the beach.
Morning session, then a boat trip out to Dragon Island — a striking rock formation rising from the lagoon. Optional evening in town.
Final morning kite or a relaxed breakfast, then transfer to Dakhla airport for your connecting flight to Casablanca or Agadir.
In September the crowds are down and the wind is up — Dakhla averages 300 days of wind per year, with an 88% daily likelihood of wind. Wake up overlooking the lagoon, grab breakfast in the lounge or take it down to the beach, then jump in the water by 9:30am. The lagoon is warm, flat, and endlessly wide. Lunch at camp, then an afternoon adventure — quad bikes, oyster farms, camels, or Dragon Island. Back for dinner, then chill with the crew or check out the town. Rinse and repeat.
